Rosman – The Lady Devils take a 4-3 Smoky Mountain Conference win over Rosman on Friday. Swain never led until the 7th inning when they took the lead.
Alissa Smith led off the top of the 7th by coaxing 6 pitch walk. Ayianna West then beat out a bunt to reach. In the process, pinch running for Smith was Kendall Bowers who was cut down at third. West was able to advance a pitch later on a passed ball. Grace Cabe singled to centerfield to score West with the go ahead run.
Trailing 3-0 in the 4th the Lady Devils rallied, scoring twice with 2 outs. Alicia Green started the rally with a walk. Gabby Jones promptly singled to left, giving Swain runners on 1st and 2nd. Tori Treadway then doubled to right centerfield to score both Green and Jones with Swain’s first runs, cutting the score to 3-2.
Swain then tied the score in the 6th inning. Ayianna West led off the inning with a single and was able to advance to third one batter later when Grace Cabe doubled. West then scored on an Erin Jenkins infield single.
West finished the game 2-3, scoring twice. Cabe finished 2-4 with a double and an rbi. Gabby Jones was 2-3 and scored, while Tori Treadway was 1-2 with a double and 2 rbi.
In the circle Taylor Day picked up the win pitching a complete game. Day scattered 7 hits and walked 3 while striking out 1.
