Bryson City – The 1st place Black Knights came to town on Wednesday. When it all settled the Lady Devils found themselves on the bottom of a 10-0 score. As has been the case all season the Lady Devils were plagued by mistakes that were costly. If you take away those mistakes the final would have been 4-0. But in the end that doesn’t matter.
The Lady Devils managed only 2 hits on the day, and both of those came in the final inning. Grace Cabe wrapped a solid single back up the middle to break up the Knight’s no-hitter bid. Fellow senior Kyndle Jones had a solid single 2 outs later. Willa Bible and Ashton Younce coaxed walks and were the Devils only other base runners.
Stacey Griggs continued her growth as a pitcher. Griggs was solid in the circle walking 3 and striking out 2 in 6-innings of work.
