Bryson City – Swain opened their 2017 softball season with a 22-4 win over visiting Blue Ridge Early College. The Lady Devils opened the game with a five run first inning, and never looked back scoring in every inning.
Bryar Buchanan paced Swain with 3 hits, a single, double and triple, and driving in four runs. Tori Treadway added a pair of hits, along with a sacrifice fly, while Kenzie Eagleman added a pair of hits. Grace Cabe, Alicia Green, Alyssa Haymond, Gabby Jones, and Alissa Smith each drove in a pair of runs. Erin Jenkins scored three times.
Taylor Day picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Devils. Day scattered four hits, while striking out nine.
