Bryson City – Swain County High School is pleased to announce that Josh Griffith has been named as our next Women’s Basketball Coach. Coach Griffith takes over for Michael Turner who stepped down on March 1st of this year.
Coach Griffith most recently was the Head Middle School and Assistant Varsity boys coach at Cherokee this past season. He served in a similar capacity as Assistant Varsity Boys coach during the 2019-20 season. Prior to that he was the Assistant Varsity Girls coach at Robbinsville in 2018-19.
Griffith is a local product having graduated from Nantahala High School in 2010. While at Nantahala Griffith was the Little Smoky Mountain Player of the Year during his senior season. He scored over 1000 points during his illustrious career, and had his number retired by Nantahala High School.
Coach Griffith is married with two beautiful daughters. He will be joining the staff at Swain Middle School where he will teach P.E.
