Bryson City – The Bulldogs, who are tied for first in the conference, found themselves in a precarious position this past Friday, as they trailed Swain 35-33 at the half. The two teams tied with Murphy, Cherokee and Robbinsville, were playing each other, the Bulldogs could ill afford to be an upset victim at Swain. The halftime speech worked wonders as Murphy came out and opened the second half by outscoring Swain 30-2 in the 3rd quarter, to take over the game and eventually take a 71-58 win.
Junior Mazie Helpman led all scorers with a game high 20 points. Savana Smith added 13 points, while Amaya Hicks chipped in 12 for the Lady Devils. Maddie Spates (5) and Kaylynn Johnson (4) combined for 9 assists.
