Rosman – The Maroon Devils moved to 7-0 overall, with a resounding 42-7 win over Rosman. With the win Swain heads into a critical part of their schedule with Murphy this week and Robbinsville next week.
This past Friday the Devils jumped out in front from the start by posting 21 points in the opening quarter of the game. Swain would build a 42-0 lead before the Tigers got on the board with a touchdown with only 48 seconds remaining in the game. For the starters it was another dominating performance, as they held Rosman without a first down. The Tigers got 3 against the 2nd unit to finish the game with 3.
Swain also limited Rosman on the ground, holding the Tigers to 57 yards rushing for the game on 35 carries. Through the air the Devils held Rosman to -1 yard. It was another balanced night defensively for Swain, who was paced by Nick Millsaps who had 6 tackles, followed by Ian Brooks and Jake Langston who finished with 5 each. The Devils also had 2 interceptions, one by Cody Long and the other by Gaige Jones. Colby Kirkland recovered a fumble.
Offensively the Maroon Devils rushed for over 200 yards in the first half, finishing with 331 yards on 42 carries for the game. Damian Lossiah was 2-4 through the air for 20 yards. One of Lossiah’s passes was to Connor Hyatt good for a 16 yard touchdown.
On the ground Bryce Sain finished with 119 yards on 13 carries and 2 touchdowns. Ian Brooks rushed for a season high 83 yards on 5 carries, while Carson Taylor and Damian Lossiah both finished with 68 yards. Brooks, Taylor and Lossiah each scored a touchdown on the ground.
Gavin Lanning was 5-5 on extra points, while Aiden Pond was 1-1.
