Bryson City – Thursday, September 26th, the Swain County Athletic Hall of Fame held their Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2019. Gary Ayers was on hand to MC the event. The Class of 2019 is the 18th class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame since it’s inception back in 2002. One of 5 inductees was Bobby Robinson, as a Patron.

Lifelong resident of Swain County • At Swain High he was an outstanding football player, where he was dubbed “Glueboy” for his ability to catch most any pass thrown • He officiated high school football for many years throughout WNC • Remained a faithful supporter of athletics and education at Swain High School all his life • A fixture along the fence line at every Maroon Devil home game, where he cheered on his Maroon Devils • After his death a marker was placed along the fence at Swain County Memorial Stadium where he stood for so many years • Mr Robinson was instrumental in the construction of Swain County Memorial Stadium, he assisted and supervised the entire stadium building process • Prior to his death in 2008 he established the Bob Robinson Family Scholarship Fund for graduates for Swain County High • To date ten different graduates, some for multiple years, have benefited from his generosity and foresight
