Bryson City – Thursday, September 26th, the Swain County Athletic Hall of Fame held their Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2019. Gary Ayers was on hand to MC the event. The Class of 2019 is the 18th class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame since it’s inception back in 2002. One of 5 inductees was Wendy Trehern Meyers.

Excelled in cross country and track at Swain High • NCHSAA 1A/2A State Runner-up in cross country, 1600-meter run & 3200-meter run • Named All State in Cross Country for both junior & senior seasons • SMC Champion in cross country, 1600-meter run & 3200-meter run • SMC Co-Runner of the Year in 1991 • Set school record in cross country as well as the 1600-meter & 3200-meter runs • Her 3200-meter time of 11:48 and cross country time of 19.41 were still school records as of 2019
