(Special to the Maroon Devils Network) – The Maroon Devils Men’s Soccer Team traveled to Mitchell on Monday night for a rematch from earlier in the season. Swain took the win in the first match up of the two teams. This game would prove to be a lot different than the first time they played. Throughout the first half neither team could find the back of the net. In the second half Mitchell would be the first to score with 14 minutes left in the game putting them up 1-0. With 8 minutes left in the game Junior Chase Burrell would find the back of the net off a throw in from Senior Nathan Brock. The game would finish tied 1-1.
“We started the game very flat and could never get into the flow of the game.” said Coach Scott Cline. “Some mental mistakes and not being able to capitalize on our shot opportunities were big issues for us in this game.” In the game on defense, Junior Anthony Reyes led the way with 5 clears/steals, followed by Senior Aiden Pond with 4 and Sophomores Lucas and Levi Trantham each with 3. In goal Junior Noel Wolf had 7 Saves.
