Bryson City – The Lady Devils started their season on Tuesday in good fashion by taking a 3-1 win over visiting Hiwassee Dam. Swain started out in hot fashion as they cruised to a 25-16 win in the first set, then fell flat in the 2nd set dropping it 25-18, before sweeping the final two sets by the scores of 25-17 and 25-17.
Junior middle hitter Jenna Marr sparked the Lady Devils with, what at times was, dominant play in the middle. Marr pounded a game high 20 kills to go along with 4 blocks and 6 aces. Senior setter Katie Winchester finished with a game high 23 assists. Seniors Kaitlin Anthony and Ashton Younce finished with 9 and 8 kills respectively. Younce dished out 13 assists, while Anthony added 5 blocks and 3 aces.
The Lady Devils host Asheville School this evening at 6 o’clock.
