Bryson City – One day removed from a huge win over Murphy the Black Knights found themselves in sole possession of 2nd place in the SMC. But Friday belonged to the Maroon Devils, as Swain used a 6 run bottom of the 2nd inning on their way to an impressive 8-4 win over the Knights. Swain scored 1 run in the bottom of the 1st, but that lead was short lived as Robbinsville scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd to take the lead. The Devils would score 6 in the bottom of the 2nd and then add another run in the bottom of the 4th.
Ian Brooks went 4-4 on the day with a pair of doubles to go with and rbi. Daniel Ammons had a pair of hits and scored once. Gaige Southards, Brooks and Dawson Chambers each had an rbi, while Damian Lossiah drove in a pair of runs.
Gaige Southards pitched 6 and 2/3 innings in picking up the win. Southards would scatter 8 hits and strike out 8, while giving up only 1 earned run on the day. Dawson Chambers came on to get the final out for the Devils, striking out the only batter he faced.
