Murphy – Stop me if you have heard this one before, Swain and Murphy head into a late season football showdown, both unbeaten in conference play. Last year it was the Devils who came out on top forcing a co-conference championship. This time around the Bulldogs were not going to be denied as they took a 49-7 win over the Devils.
The Devils opened play by taking the first drive of the game and moving 32 yards in 6 plays. Facing a crucial 4th and 4-yards to go, with the ball on the Bulldog 32, Swain came up inches short. It appeared the side judge marked the spot by where Bryce Sain’s knee hit the ground rather than where his outstretched arms had reached, leaving Swain inches short and turning the ball over to Murphy on the Dogs own 29 yard line.
Murphy would go on to score on 3 of their next 4 possessions to build a 21-0 lead, just before the half.
Swain struck for their lone touchdown as time expired in the 2nd quarter. The Maroon Devils launched a 17 play 60 yard drive. On the final play of the 2nd quarter, Damian Lossiah hit Jacob Langston with a bullet pass between two defenders for a touchdown. Hunter Call made the point after to cut the Murphy lead to 21-7 at the half.
The second half was all Bulldogs as Murphy scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter to build a 42-7 lead. Murphy added another score in the final quarter for the 49-7 final.
