Cherokee – Saturday the men’s and women’s track teams competed in the NCHSAA 1A Western Regional. Neither team qualified as a team. Freshman Monica Riordan came away with the only 1st place on the day for Swain. Riordan won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.05, she followed that with a 2nd place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Kaitlyn Teesateskie broke the school record in the shot put with a toss of 36′ 4.5″, good for 3rd place.
