Bryson City – The Swain Lady Devils soccer team hosted the Cherokee Braves on Tuesday night taking an 8-0 win. Two Lay Devils recorded hat tricks (at least 3 goals) in the game. Junior Kyndall Cochran started the scoring seven minutes into the game off an assist from Senior Mae Duncan. One minute later Cochran scored again off another pass from Duncan. Seven minutes later Freshman Isabelle Green joined the scoring. With one minute left in the half Green scored once again.
Thirteen minutes into the second half Green finished her hat trick scoring once more off a pass by Cochran. One minute later Cochran had Swain’s second hat trick of the game off a pass from Duncan. Cochran added one more with 20 minutes left in the game off a pass by Green. Senior Josie Parker topped off the scoring with her first goal of the season with 11 minutes left in the game off a pass by Green.
On defense Freshman Bri Ross led the way with 20 clears/steals, followed by Sophomore Rebecca Duncan and Junior Jessie Richards each with 12. In goal Senior Josie Parker held Cherokee scoreless in the first half and Freshman Maddie Lay did the same in the second half. On the offensive side Cochran had 4 goals and 1 assist, Green had 3 goals and 2 assists, Duncan had 3 assists, and Parker had 1 goal.
The Swain Player of the Game was Freshman Isabelle Green. “We had many players that really stood out in this game. Isabelle once again stepped up and really distributed the ball well from her Attacking Mid position.” said Coach Scott Cline. “Overall it was a really good performance by all of the Lady Devils.”
