Bryson City – The Swain Lady Devils soccer team hosted the Tri-County Early College on Monday night for a home conference game. The Lady Devils dominated the game from the start winning 7-0 led by leading goal scorer Junior Kyndall Cochran with 6. The Lady Devils came out ready to play from the start with Cochran scoring less than four minutes into the game from an assist by Senior Mae Duncan. Three minutes later Cochran scored again off a corner kick she kicked off a Tri-County player. Cochran scored twice more in the first half assisted by Freshman Kaytlin Jones and Senior Sharlotte Queen-Jackson. Junior Jessie Richards also found the back of the net once in the first half assisted by Jones. In the second half Cochran scored twice more both assisted by Freshman Isabelle Green.
On the defensive side Freshman Bri Ross led the way with 10 clears/steals, followed by Sophomore Rebecca Duncan, Junior Jessie Richards, and Sharlotte Queen-Jackson each with five. In goal in the first half Freshman Maddie Lay held Tri-County scoreless as did Senior Josie Parker in the second half. The Swain Player of the game was Junior Kyndall Cochran. “Kyndall showed a tremendous amount of patience going in for her shots,” Head Coach Scott Cline said. “Overall she played a great game.”
