Asheville – Swain High has 2 finalists in 3 different categories at this year’s 57th Annual WNC Sports Awards Banquet. The event will be held May 6th at the Grove Park Inn. Athletes from all classifications from all across WNC are nominated and one person chosen for each category. This year features 118 finalists from 28 different schools and will get underway at 5:30. Tickets may be purchased at WNC Sports Awards Banquet so visit the site if you are interested in attending.
Swain’s Emma Pindur and Will Paul are both nominees in this year’s awards. Pindur is nominated in the Carole Martin/Northwestern Mutual Division II Female Athlete – Olympic Sport category. Other nominees include Erin Butler, Asheville Christian swimming; Abigail Kriegler, Asheville School swimming; Rachel Kuehn, Asheville School golf and tennis.
Pindur is also up for the Apollo Flame Division II Female Athlete of the Year. Other nominees include: Jessica Beckner, Murphy basketball and volleyball; Kate Condra, Asheville Christian Academy volleyball; Rachel Kuehn, Asheville School golf and tennis.
Will Paul is nominated in the White & Williams Division II Male Athlete – Olympic Sport category. Other nominees include: Payne Anderson, Robbinsville wrestling; River Griffith, Avery County wrestling; Kade Millsaps, Robbinsville wrestling; Kevin Snyder, Christ School track and field.
