Hayesville – After a week off the Maroon Devils returned to action this past Friday by opening conference play. Swain scored just over a minute and a half into the game and never looked back, cruising to a 48-7 win.
The Maroon Devil offense used 8 different running backs in amassing a season high 362 yards on the ground. Bryce Sain led the Devils in rushing yardage finishing with a game high 87 yards on just 4 carries. Sain scored twice on the ground, including a 67 yard dash in 3rd quarter. Brodie Bowman and Tanner Wiggins each had 49 yards. Hunter Burrell finished with 45 yards, while Colby Taylor and Cameron Baines each had 43 yards. Burrell, Taylor and Baines each found the endzone as well. Ian Brooks added the Maroon Devils other touchdown with a 3 yard run in the second quarter.
Bowman also finished an efficient 5 of 10 through the air, good for 54 yards and a touchdown. Zeke Bradley snared 2 passes, including a 17 yard touchdown pass from Bowman.
On defense the Maroon Devils kept the Yellow Jacket offense out of the endzone for most of the night, yielding only a 4th quarter score. Linebackers Ice Littlejohn and Wren Gunter led the defense with 8 tackles each. Ian Brooks finished with 7 while Logan Loftis added 6.
