Robbinsville – Swain split a pair of Smoky Mountain Conference games over the weekend. Saturday they downed Robbinsville 17-5. On Friday they fell in an offensive slugfest to Rosman by the score of 16-12.
Saturday the Devils scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning to build an 11-1 lead and never looked back taking a 17-5 six inning win from Robbinsville. Dawson Lowe, Ian Brooks, and Dylan Smith drove in 2 runs each for Swain. While Lowe and Mikel Laws scored 3 runs each. Trae Bradley was 2-5, scoring twice, while Dylan Smith was 2-2 with a pair of walks.
Trae Bradley, Dawson Lowe and Darren Blankenship combined on the hill for the Devils. Bradley picked up the win working 3 innings and striking out 8, while walking only 1 and scattering 3 hits.
On Friday the Maroon Devils built a 7 run lead over the game’s first two innings. Rosman responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and then erupted for 9 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take the lead and eventually get the 16-12 win. The Maroon Devils committed 7 errors for the game.
Trae Bradley, Mikel Laws and Dylan Smith each had 3 hits. Dawson Lowe scored 3 times, while Smith, Bradley and Gaige Southards each scored twice. Dylan Smith hit a solo home run in the 6th inning.
Dylan Smith, Gaige Southards and Dawson Chambers toed the pitching rubber for Swain. Smith and Southards each worked an inning and a third, while Chambers threw two innings and a third.
