Andrews – It didn’t take the Devils long Friday to take control of their Smoky Mountain Conference matchup with Andrews. One play into the game Swain’s Brodie Bowman hit Brier Younce in stride for a 75 yard touchdown pass. Following the Holden Petty extra point, the Maroon Devils never looked back posting a 41-14 win.
Swain scored all 41 points in the first half, and no starters played during the second half. Bowman finished 6 of 11 for 130 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Both touchdown strikes went to Brier Younce who finished with 5 catches for 133 yards. Chris Miller rushed for a team high 88 yards on 6 carries, and scored two touchdowns of his own.
The Swain defense held Andrews to under 100 yards of total offense in the first half. Wren Gunter anchored the defense with a season high 14 tackles in the first half. Brier Younce scored a touchdown by alertly scooping up a Wildcat fumble on a punt return, and scampering into the endzone. The Younce score gave him 3 touchdowns on the evening.
Swain will try to make it 4 straight Friday as they return home to host Rosman.
