Bryson City- Swain’s soccer team lost their game last night, October 10th, against Hayesville with a score of 5-1. The first half was a close game between the two teams and ended with a score of 1-1. Looking back at their previous game against each other, Swain has grown pass the 7-0 loss and this was a perfect evaluation of their growth overall from that September 14th night. Our Devils played hard throughout the first half but had a tough time keeping that momentum strong through the second. Many observers at the game felt like the referee was being selective with his calls for both sides. One observer stated they would report this event to the Soccer Referees Association because of the lack of or use of calls the referee made. Many look at the score and will call this a lost but the players know that it is a win considering they improved themselves since their last game against the Yellow Jackets.
With heads held high, our Maroon Devils will play this Wednesday, October 12th at Andrews and next Monday, October 17th against Murphy here at Swain with both starting at 6PM.
Come out and support our Maroon Devils!
