Hiwassee Dam – Swain broke open a 4-2 game with 9 runs over the final two innings to take a 13-2 5-inning win over Hiwassee Dam last week. The Maroon Devils racked up 13 hits in supporting a complete game effort by senior Trent Wright. Wright scattered 4 hits and gave up only 2 runs in his 5 innings of work from the mound.
Trae Bradley and Zach Epps had 3 hits each, and both scored 3 times in the win. Jordan McGaha, Dawson Lowe and Craig Cutshaw drove in 3 runs each, while Darren Blankenship drove in 2 runs.
In the first Trae Bradley led off with a single. Bradley advanced on Zach Epps single and later scored on a ground out by Jordan McGaha.
Dawson Lowe walked to open the 2nd inning. Lowe advanced on a wild pitch and then a ground out by Dawson Chambers. Darren Blankenship brought Lowe home with a perfect suicide squeeze.
Stanley Taylor and Zach Epps singled and doubled respectively to open the 3rd frame. Jordan McGaha walked to load the bases. Taylor scored when Craig Cutshaw was hit with a pitch. Epps scored on a walk to Dawson Lowe.
In the 4th the Swain offense opened up, scoring 4 runs. A single by Trae Bradley was followed by walks to Stanley Taylor and Jordan McGaha. Zach Epps and Cutshaw were each hit by a pitch. Dawson Lowe followed with a solid single to left field. When the dust settled Bradley, Taylor, McGaha and Epps had all scored.
Zach Epps and Trae Bradley both singled and later scored in the Devils 5th inning. Dylan Smith walked and scored, while Craig Cutshaw was hit by a pitch for the third time and later scored as well. Dawson Lowe reached by fielders choice, as he too scored during the inning.
