In Honor of October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Swain High Female Athletes, Band Members, Cheerleaders, and HOSA members are hosting a “Check your Ta-Ta’s Party.” This informational only event (no exams will be done this day) will promote the importance of self breast examination.
Ninety-one high school females from the above group have committed to bring atleast one person to this event which will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 10 am at the Center for Performing Arts on the campus of SCHS.
With cooperation from Westcare and the Swain County Health Department, there will be medical personnel presenting on the importance of self breast examination, how to do a correct self exam, what you should do should you find a lump, and to answer any questions.
The 91 girls will not only bring at least one person, but they are agreeing to be that person’s buddy and to remind them monthly to do their self exam. Please contact Sherry Wright at Swain County High School with any questions.
