Murphy – The Lady Devils got just enough production to post a tight 4-3 win over Murphy. Swain scored 2 runs in the 3rd and then followed that with a run in the 4th and 5th innings. Murphy scored twice in the bottom of the 4th and then added another run in the 6th.
Callyn Brown started the 3rd for Swain by reaching on a Bulldog error. Kendall Bowers then came on to run for Brown. Bowers was moved to 2nd on a Erin Jenkins ground out. Grace Cabe promptly doubled to score Bowers with the game’s first run. Alissa Smith doubled off the left field fence to score Cabe from 3rd and give Swain a 2-0 advantage.
Swain struck again in the 4th as Gabby Jones reached on a dropped third strike. Bryar Buchanan then lined a triple to right field, scoring Jones.
In the 5th Alissa Smith lead off the inning by stroking her second double of the game. Smith advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Caitlyn Dills hit a fly ball to left field that allowed Smith to tag up and score.
For the day Smith and Buchanan each had a pair of hits as well as driving in a run each.
Taylor Day had a solid day in the circle, picking up her 4th win of the season. Day scattered 9 hits, walked none and struck out 4 in earning the win.
