Bryson City – Swain’s Jordan Cody has committed to continue his football career at Mars Hill University. Cody led the Maroon Devils with 29 catches for 415 yards this past season. Cody, an all around threat, also rushed for 324 yards on 46 carries. He also excelled in special teams play posting a 38.9 average on punts, and a 18.9 yard average in returning punts to go along with a 21.9 average returning kickoffs. Cody led the Devils with 1342 all-purpose yards on the season.
Cody finished his career as 2nd on the all time receptions list with 103 catches for his career, joining only Benjie Shuler and Matthew Maennle as the only receivers to go over 100 catches in a career. He also finished with 1836 total receiving yards, which is 2nd only to Matthew Maennle’s 2589 yards, Cody will now join Maennle at Mars Hill.
