Bryson City – By the time Gabby Lane was crowned 2015 Homecoming Queen, the Maroon Devils already had the game in hand after building a 28-6 halftime lead, on their way to a 49-19 conference win. Swain pounded out 431 yards of total offense, including 358 on the ground.
Senior Brody Sitton rushed for a team high 83 yards on 16 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. Trent Wright added a 44 yard touchdown run of his own on his way to 52 yards rushing. Tanner Wiggins scored on a 46 yard run, on his very first varsity carry. Derek Fortner, Keshaun Beaner, and Dylan Smith each finished with over 30 yards rushing on the night. All total 15 different Maroon Devils carried the ball, including a 3 yard touchdown run by lineman Ross Ensley, the first of his career.
Through the air Trent Wright and Brodie Bowman combined to go 4 of 6 passing (each was 2 of 3) for a combined 73 yards. Jordan Cody was on the receiving end of two of those passes, while Derek Fortner snared one that went for 35 yards. Angel Bowers made a highlight reel one handed grab for the other completion.
Issiah Bradley paced the Swain defense with 5 tackles, 2 for loss, a sack, and two blocked extra points. Craig Cutshaw added 5 tackles, while Ross Ensley, William Paul and Ice Littlejohn added 4 each. Caleb Woodard, Brier Younce and Trae Bradley each had an interception, while Ross Ensley recovered a fumble.
