- Served as custodian and supervisor for Swain County High School and was responsible for stadium and gym
- Very respected by all of the coaches and players
- Put much more into his job than was ever expected of him
- Was usually the first person there and the last person to leave
- Coach Boyce Deitz stated “that he was part of the team, he celebrated when they celebrated and he hurt when they hurt. He took great pride in Swain Athletics and always lived up to the school’s motto, Our Best and Then Some”.
