Bryson City – The Maroon Devils built a 5-3 lead over 4 innings of play Tuesday, but Murphy scored 3 runs in a decisive 5th inning to take a tough 6-5 conference win. In the 5th Murphy parlayed a hit batter, double and Maroon Devil error into 3 runs, which proved to be the difference maker.
On offense the Maroon Devils managed only 3 hits on the day but took advantage of 5 Bulldog errors. Dawson Lowe drove in a pair of runs for the Devils, while Matt Waldroup drove in one. Jamy Oocumma and Dylan Smith in the 3rd inning for Swain, with Smith scoring on a ground out by Matt Waldroup and Oocumma scoring when Smith reached on an error. In the 4th Zach Epps was hit by a pitch and Craig Cutshaw walked. Oocumma scored Epps when he reached on a Bulldog error. Then Dawson Lowe singled home Cutshaw and Oocumma.
