Bryson City – In their long and storied history the Lady Devils have 30 no-hitters, in the last 14 years. Friday senior Karie Jones added her name to the list, by tossing the 31st no-hitter in school history. Jones, who just missed a no-hitter on Tuesday, finishing with a 2 hitter, left no doubt on Friday. Two Yellow Jackets reached base, both via errors. Jones walked none, struck out 7, and shut out the Jackets as Swain took a 16-0 Smoky Mountain Conference win.
Jones remained hot at the plate finishing 3-4 with a pair of rbi and a pair of runs scored. Taylor Shuler went 3-3 and drove in 2 runs and scored twice. Callyn Brown was 2-3 with a pair of doubles and 3 rbi. Adriana Kaylor was also 2-3 scoring twice.
Karie Jones joins sister Kayla (now an assistant coach with the Lady Devils) as the only sisters to have each thrown a no-hitter for Swain.
