Cherryville – The West vs Midwest 1A All-Star Basketball Games had a full day of activities in Cherryville on Saturday, March 21, 2015. The West boys, West girls, Midwest boys, and the Midwest girls all had practice sessions during midday. The coaches and players along with parents and friends were provided a meal (banquet style) at the First Baptist Church of Cherryville. Each player and coach was given gifts of a t-shirt, plaque, and a lanyard. The event had a The keynote speaker for the banquet was H. L. Beam III, Mayor of Cherryville.
The inaugural games of the West vs Midwest 1A All-Star Basketball Games were held in the Nixon Gymnasium of Cherryville High School. The girls game was close until about midway of the first half. The West girls then scored quickly on their fast breaking attack and led at the half by a score of West 44 and Midwest 25. The Midwest girls could not get any closer in the second half with the final score of 89 to 50. The Midwest girls were led in scoring by Olivia Schoore with 8 points; Tiffani Riggen led the West in scoring with 15 points.
