Cherokee – Senior Karie Jones took care of business on Tuesday. Jones pitched a beauty, yielding just 2 hits over five innings, as the Devils took a 12-1 win over Cherokee. From the circle Jones walked only 1 and struck out 8, and carried a perfect game into the 4th inning. But a walk, followed by a single, broke up the no-hitter for Jones in the fourth inning. Adriana Kaylor made a spectacular diving stop that saved a second run from crossing for the Braves in a busy fourth inning.
At the plate Jones turned in another impressive day, going 2 for 3, scoring 4 times and stealing 3 bases. Sophomore Sydney Call went 3-4 and drove in 6 runs with a pair of doubles. One of those came in the second with the bases loaded, Call doubled to right center scoring all 3 Lady Devils. Gabby Jones drove in a pair of runs, while Callyn Brown, Caitlyn Dills, and Bryar Buchanan drove in a run each. Erin Jenkins reached base 3 times, scored twice, and stole a base.
