Murphy – It was a tough 2 game stretch for the Lady Devils. First losing 38-37 to East Henderson and then falling 54-48 to Murphy. Both games were on the road.
At East Henderson sophomore Gabby Jones poured in a career high 22 points, adding 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Jones’ career night was not enough as the Eagles held off Swain down the stretch to take the close contest. Lydia Sale had a team high 8 rebounds, while Lynsey Hicks dished out 2 assists.
At Murphy the Bulldogs went on a 19-10 run over the game’s first 8 minutes, and then would be able to hold off the Devils the rest of the way to take the SMC win. Senior guard Karie Jones lead Swain with 13 points, while Taylor Medlin chipped in 11. Emily Styles and Gabby Jones each had 6 rebounds, while Taylor Medlin had 5 assists, and Adrianna Kaylor added 2 assists for Swain.
