ANDREWS, WNC – Swain clinched their 8th straight SMC Crown with an 11-0 win over Andrews on Tuesday. With the win the Devils have a two game lead with only one conference game remaining.
Maggie Sutton and Nerissa Woodard had a pair of rbi to pace the Swain offense. Nikki Cody and Kendra Kirkland had 3 hits each, while Brittany Shuler, Brooke Coggins, Maggie Sutton, and Jessica Winchester had two hits each in the win.
Richlle Jenkins picked up her 10th win of the season by working 3 strong innings before giving way to Brooke Coggins to work the final 2 innings.
Coggins picked up her 100th career hit on a single in the third inning. She becomes only the 4th player in school history to amass 100 hits for a career. The others are Kayla Myers, Lauren Maennle, and Sarah Davis.
