BRYSON CITY, WNC – The Maroon Devils came out of spring break with a trio of games. Overall Swain posted a 2-1 record in those three games, dropping one to Franklin and returning to their winning ways in conference play with two wins.
Monday the Devils downed Rosman 12-4. Swain scored three runs in the both the second and third inning, then capped things off with a six run sixth inning. Cody Epps, Dylan Rose, Taylor Jones, Cody Rich, and Zach Shuler each had two hits for the Devils. Jones drove in four runs, while Rose, Shuler, and Garrett Lane had two runs batted in each.
Dylon Winchester picked up the win on the mound for the Devils, working four innings and scattering two hits to go along with six strikeouts. Tyler Cook came on to work the final three innings. Cook struck out six and yielded only two hits in his three innings.
On Friday, against Cherokee, the Devils used a five run third inning to break things open and cruise to an 11-1 win over the Braves. For the game Swain only managed four hits, one each by Garrett Lane, Lee Pattillo, Tanner Burrell, and Logan Woodard. Lane, Pattillo, Burrell, Woodard, and Taylor Jones drove in runs. Swain also took advantage of four walks and three hit batters in scoring their 11 runs.
Bronson Lindsay picked up the win for Swain. Lindsay worked all five innings, scattering two hits and striking out seven.
Against Franklin, the Panthers scored four runs in the fourth and added five more in the fifth to take a 9-0 win over the Devils. Cody Epps had two hits in the loss for Swain.
