Bryson City – The Maroon Devils got back to basics Friday rushing for a season high 347 yards on 47 carries, on their way to an impressive 37-14 Homecoming win over Hayesville. Senior Spencer McCoy rushed for a season high 142 yards on 13 carries, Chris Miller added 73 yards on 9 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns. Swain’s diversified rushing attack even got 4 carries each out of wide receivers Jordan Cody (41 yards) and Kobe Toineeta (39).
On the other side of the ball the Maroon Devils starting defense pitched a shutout, keeping the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard, until they added 2 fourth quarter scores, after the starters were out of the game. Linebackers Ross Ensley (14 tackles), Taylor Oros (12 tackles), and Spencer McCoy (9 tackles) paced the Swain defense.
