BRYSON CITY, WNC – Swain County jumped out to an early lead on Highlands and captured a 27-0 victory on Saturday.
Hannah Bowick, Brooke Coggins, Breanna Bryant, Jessica Winchester, and Adrianna Kaylor each racked up two RBIs in the win.
Highlands had no answer for Jenkins, who cruised in the circle. Highlands managed just one hit off of the Swain County’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during her two innings of work.
Coggins recorded the win for Swain County. She tossed two innings of shutout ball. The Swain County pitcher struck out five, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Swain County pounded Highlands pitching, as seven hitters combined for 10 hits, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
Swain County ran seemingly at will on the basepaths, finishing with 10 steals. Woodard, Winchester, Bryant, Maggie Sutton, Bowick, and Adrianna Kaylor each had one stolen base and Nikki Cody and Coggins each had two stolen bases.
Brianna Stepp threw one inning of scoreless ball for Swain County.
