Smoky Mountain HS Invitational

August 28, 2014 by platter

Cullowhee – Swain High men’s and women’s cross country results for the Smoky Mountain HS Invitational.

Top 5 Boys

Parker Chatham — 18:58 (4th)
Brett Treadway — 19:49 (8th)
Sam Dickson — 20:08 (10th)
Phinehas Little — 21:22 (21st)
Darren Blankenship — 21:27 (23rd)

The boys placed 3rd overall earning 72 points in the Smoky Mountain HS Invitational. Smoky Mountain won, followed by Hayesville. In fourth place was North Henderson, 5th was Robbinsville and 6th was Rabun Gap.

“That was an excellent showing by our boys on a hot day. Brett Treadway and Sam Dickson, in particular, really stepped it up. Our big thing is going to be consistency, but that’ll come with time.” says Coach Latter.

Top 5 Girls

Shelby Hyatt — 22:11 (5th)
Emma Pindur — 22:43 (7th)
Kylie Pond — 24:57 (18th)
Bryar Buchanan — 25:54 (22nd)
Haley Cooper — 25:59 (23rd)

Girls placed fourth behind Smoky Mountain, Robbinsville and Hayesville.

“We had a couple injury scares today, so we were a pretty depleted team out there and that showed in our placing. I don’t want that to take away from some great racing by ladies like Emma, Kylie and Bryar, who all stepped up and did their best to get the team through. This is a tough team and we’ll be ready when the races really count.” says Coach Latter.
