Bryson City – Weather played a factor in another weird chapter of spring sports. With a makeup game with Andrews slated for Friday the Maroon Devils moved the game to Thursday as part of a doubleheader with Murphy, to avoid having the game rained out on Friday. So, the Devils faced Andrews and Murphy back to back on Thursday. To add to the storyline, the Devils entered the games needed a sweep of both games to move into a tie for second place in the SMC.
Mission accomplished as the Devils downed Andrew, in game one by the score of 13-0, behind a strong pitching effort of Lawson Woodard who scattered two hits and struck out 10.
In game two Swain posted another win to sweep the doubleheader. The Devils downed Murphy 8-1 behind Ronnie Griggs, who yielded on earned run and striking out 9.
With the two wins Swain finishes the season tied with Murphy for second place in the SMC, and own the tiebreaker with the Bulldogs.
