Hayesville – The Lady Devil track team competed at Hayesville on Wednesday in a six team meet. The Lady Devils outdistanced Pisgah 133 to 129 to take first place overall in the team standings.
Arizona Blankenship continued to show that not only she back, but even better than ever. Blankenship cracked the 11 minute mark in the 3200-meter, running for 10:59.39 to take first place by over 3 minutes ahead of the next finisher. In the 1600-meter it was more of the same as Blankenship finished first with a time of 5:12.93 20 seconds ahead of 2nd place.
Melani Linton took home two 2nd place finishes in each of the hurdle events. In the 300-meter hurdles Linton was joined by Amelia Rogers (3rd) and Kinsley Hyatt (4th). Amaya Hicks was 2nd in the 800-meter and Marlee Hicks was 3rd in the 200-meter.
Amelia Rogers took a pair of 1st place finishes. Finishing first in the high jump where she cleared 5’2″. Naomi Feagin (3rd place) and Lindley Wyatt (4th) rounded out the scoring for Swain.
Rogers also lead a clean sweep by the Lady Devils in the pole vault. Rogers cleared 11′ for top honors, but Alden Thomas was 2nd as she cleared 8’6″ and Hannah Wingate was close behind as she cleared 8′.
