Andrews – The Maroon Devils clinched a share of the Smoky Mountain Conference Championship last Thursday with a 14-2 win over Andrews at Andrews. Swain built a 6-0 lead over the first five innings and then scored 8 combined in the sixth and seventh for the final score.
Cameron Blankenship went 4-5 and scored 3 runs as well as drove in 2 runs in the win for the Devils. Reese Winchester was 3-5 with 3 runs batted in and scored 2 runs. Carter Hayes was 2-5 including a home run while driving in 3 runs.
On the mound Ronnie Griggs picked up the complete game win. Griggs scattered 4 hits and struck out 12 while walking none for the Devils.
On Friday the Maroon Devils won the draw between them and Murphy for the number one overall seed in the playoffs.
