Bryson City – The Maroon Devils head into their final two games of the season needing a sweep of Andrews in those games to secure at least a share of the Smoky Mountain Conference Championship. Those dreams looked in jeopardy in the first of those two games on Tuesday. Andrews bolted out to a 3-0 lead through the first two innings. But the Maroon Devils would not be denied as they scored 14 runs of the next three innings to take a 14-4 win and move one step closer to a championship.
Gabe Lillard, Cameron Blankenship and Carter Hayes each had 3 hits on the day. Hayes drove in 5 runs with 3 doubles, while Lillard homered and had a pair of rbi. Blankenship and Carson Taylor both scored 3 runs. Cooper Hyatt had a pair of hits and scored twice, Reese Winchester also scored twice for the Devils.
Carson Taylor, Gabe Lillard and Charlie Collins all combined for the win. The trio scattered 8 hits walked 8 and struck out 8.
Swain travels to Andrews on Thursday for the final regular season game and a chance to win a conference championship.
