Bryson City – Swain opened Smoky Mountain Conference play Tuesday as they hosted Robbinsville. Initially the two teams played even, but the Black Knights found their shooting stroke and using a huge 2nd quarter from Desta Trammel the Knights pulled away to a 46-12 halftime lead. Swain held their own in the 2nd half, but the damage was already done as the Knights took a 56-28 win to open conference play.
Trammell finished with a game high 18 points, most of which came in the 2nd quarter.
Mazie Helpman paced the Lady Devils with a team high 10 points to go along with a team high 4 rebounds. Kiersten Smith had 6 and Amaya Hicks 5 for Swain.
