Bryson City – The Lady Devils opened their 2023-24 basketball season on Tuesday by hosting Smoky Mountain. This season the Lady Devils are inexperienced with only 4 returning players from last year’s squad. That showed as the Mustangs were able to take a 48-32 win over Swain.
Mistakes were big for the Lady Devils all evening. For the game Swain committed 33 turnovers outpacing their total points by one. Swain also shot 20% from the field for the game, and were 0 for 11 from beyond the 3-point mark.
Marlee Hicks led Swain with 14 points, most of which came from the free throw line as Hicks was 10 of 16 from the charity stripe.
Swain will be in action again next Tuesday as they host Hiwassee Dam.
