Bryson City – The Maroon Devils took another step towards a Smoky Mountain Conference Championship this past Friday, with a convincing win over Murphy. After falling behind 7-0 the Maroon Devils reeled off 14 points to take a 14-7 lead at halftime. Swain used a physical running game to wear down the Bulldogs as witnessed by the Devils 23 point fourth quarter. In the end Swain took a 37-13 win over the Bulldogs.
Swain rushed 47 times for 357 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns. Their defense limited Murphy to 143 yards on the ground with 43 carries. The Maroon Devils finished with 391 yards of total offense to the Bulldogs 211.
Josh Collins notched his 3rd 200 plus rushing yard night of the season. Collins finished with 265 yards on 23 carries and 3 touchdowns. Josiah Glaspie added 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns to the ground attack. Glaspie and Keyanthae Graham each had a reception.
Nse Uffort, Skeet Cook and Lucas Sutton keyed the Maroon Devil defense.
