Andrews – Tuesday the Lady Devils traveled to Andrews to play a doubleheader, as both schools decided to play Friday’s game as part of a doubleheader to avoid a potential rainout. Swain entered the contest nursing a five game team hitting slump, during which they hit .209 as a team. It didn’t take long for the Lady Devils to find their hitting stroke as they pounded out a sweep of Andrews by the scores of 19-5 and 13-2.
In game one Swain saw immediate results at the plate as they batted around producing 7 runs in the process. Senior Maddie Spates started things by roping a single to left center field and advanced to second on the throw. Carley Teesateskie followed with line drive double to left center field that scored Spates. Maddie Bird came on as a courtesy runner for Teesateskie. Bird would score on a line drive single to center field by Haileigh Woodard. Rylee Rawls then hit her 2nd home run of the season scoring her and Woodard. Kaley Parker and Kiersten Smith both reached base and Parker came around to score on a Kandyce Crisp single, while Smith would score on an Addisyn Jenkins single. Teesateskie would drive in her second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly, scoring Crisp from third base.
The Lady Devils scored in every inning, including 6 runs in the fifth inning, which was capped by Carley Teesateskies grand slam home run to left center.
For the game freshman catcher Carley Teesateskie was 4-4 with 7 rbi a home run, her 3rd of the season, and a double. Addisyn Jenkins was 3-4 with a pair of runs scored and a pair of rbi. Maddie Spates, Haileigh Woodard and Rylee Rawls each had a pair of hits. Rawls drove in a pair with a home run, while Spates scored 3 runs and drove in a pair.
Rawls picked up the win in the circle scattering 5 hits and striking out 8. Rawls is also over the 100 strikeout mark on the season.
Game two begin the same as game one with Maddie Spates and Carley Teesateskie each doubling off of line shots to left centerfield. Spates scored on Teesateskie’s double. Maddie Bird came on as a courtesy runner for Teesateskie. Bird would score on a sharp single by Rylee Rawls, putting Swain up 2-0.
The score would remain 2-0 until the bottom of the 3rd (Swain was the home team in this game). Carley Teesateskie hit a solo home run to center field to open the inning and make the score 3-0.
In the bottom of the 4th the Lady Devils broke the game wide open. With one out in the inning Swain hit 4 consecutive doubles. Kandyce Crisp started with a line drive to right center. Faith Woodard followed with a line drive down the leftfield line, which scored Crisp. Maddie Bird doubled to right centerfield scoring Woodard. Maddie Spates doubled home Bird. Teesateskie singled sharply to center field to score Spates. Crisp and Woodard struck again later in the inning with Crisp driving in Brianna Wesley and Ava Hoke. Woodard doubled scoring Addisyn Jenkins.
Kandyce Crisp and Carley Teesateskie were both 3-3, Teesateskie drove in 3 runs while Crisp had a pair of rbi. Faith Woodard and Maddie Spates had a pair of hits each, with Woodard driving in 2 runs.
In the circle Hannah Shuler and Rylee Rawls combined gave up only 2 hits while walking 3 and striking out 7.
