Black Mountain – For their first ever meeting Owen and visiting Swain put together a good old fashioned softball game. Owen would plate 2 runs in the first and tack on another in the 3rd and then hold off a furious Swain comeback to take a tough 3-2 win.
Opening the top half of the 6th the Lady Devils trailed 3-0 and only had one hit, a single by Hannah Shuler in the 5th inning. With one out Carley Teesateskie and Maddie Spates had back to back singles. Rylee Rawls hit into a fielders choice as Owen just forced Teesateskie at third base. Haileigh Woodard hit a line shot down the right field line scoring both Spates and Molleigh Woodard, who was running for Rawls. Unfortunately that would be all the Devils would force across.
Swain threatened again in the 7th, putting runners on first and second, but were unable to tie the game.
The two teams will meet again Friday at Swain.
