Cherokee – One day removed from a disappointing 4-3 loss at Cherokee the Lady Devils found redemption by taking a 3-0 win on Wednesday. It was a well played affair by both squads and some enjoyable softball to watch.
Freshman catcher Carley Teesateskie got things started for the Devils in the bottom half of the third. Teesateskie lined a shot to right centerfield good for a two out triple. Maddie Spates followed with a single that scored Teesateskie. Spates hustled around the bases to score from first on a Rylee Rawls double to deep left field.
The 2-0 lead would be one that the Lady Devils would make stand until their half of the 5th. Sophomore left fielder Kaley Parker tripled to right field to open the inning. Carley Teesateskie lined a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield to score Parker, giving Swain a 3-0 lead.
Rylee Rawls was terrific in the circle earning the win. Rawls scattered four hits and struck out 8 in notching the shutout.
At the plate Teesateskie and Parker were both 2-3 with a run scored. Maddie Spates and Rylee Rawls picked up an rbi each and Hannah Shuler tripled to right center.
