Bryson City – The Lady Devils hosted Hiwassee Dam in their home opener on Thursday. After jumping out 2-0 by the scores of 25-30 and 25-19, the Lady Devils dropped the 3rd set 24-26. Swain responded in grand fashion by running away with the 4th set by the score of 25-12, taking a 3-1 win and evening their record at 1-1.
Swain stayed aggressive at the net all evening, tallying 48 kills as a team. Sophomore Gracie Sutton paced the Lady Devils with 14 kills, followed closely by freshman Kennedy Anthony who had 11. Senior setter Kiersten Smith had 34 assists, to go with 8 kills of her own. Senior Maddie Spates served 5 aces.
