Heading into the Western Regional Championships the Lady Devils were predicted to finish in second behind Mountain Island Charter. Somewhere along the way the Lady Devils must not of gotten the memo. The defending Western Reginal Champions did what Maroon Devils do, the fought and scratched and clawed their way to a dead tie with Mountain Island heading into the final event of the day, the 4×400 meter relay.
The 4×400 relay team of Mazie Helpman, Isabella Walker, Amaya Hicks and Sienna Hackshaw would not be denied running a season best 4:13 to take first place and give the Lady Devils their second straight Western Regional Championship. Swain’s time of 4:13.31 was 5 seconds faster than Mountain Island, who ended up finishing 3rd in the race. Although predicted to finish 30 points behind Mountain Island the Lady Devils finished the day with 119 points to Mountain Island’s 115.
