The Lady Devils soccer team traveled to Murphy on Tuesday to take on the Tri-County Jaguars. Just six minutes into the game Freshman Karena Cline received a pass from Freshman Mya Burrows-Kurr converting it into a goal. Two minutes later Burrows-Kurr would find Senior Mazie Helpman for a goal. Ten minutes into the game Cline would find Helpman for her second goal of the game. Seven minutes later Helpman would find Burrows-Kurr for the Lady Devils 4th goal of the game. Four minutes later Senior Jade Henry would find Junior Mahala Bird for a goal. A few minutes later Henry would get in on the scoring off a pass from Sophomore Anna Gray. Junior Tsini McCoy would cap off the scoring for the first half when Sophomore Audrey Zelenka would find her with a pass putting the Lady Devils up 7-0 at the half.
Seven minutes into the second half the Jaguars would score their first goal of the game. Twenty minutes into the half Burrows-Kurr would find Freshman Lola Collins for a goal. One minute later Freshman Sophie Matz would find Helpman for a goal. Twenty five seconds later the Lady Devils would finish off the Mercy Rule when Matz would find Burrows-Kurr for the final goal. The Lady Devils would take the 10-1 win. “Our whole team played a great game. We had some very unselfish play and four players who had never scored a goal before scored.” said Head Coach Scott Cline.
Defensively Senior Jade Henry led the way with 3 clears/steals followed by Sophomore Anna Gray and Sophomore Emmie Fuller each with 2. The Player of the Game for the Lady Devils was Sophomore Audrey Zelenka. “Audrey really stepped it up in the game. She did a great job of taking a leadership role with the group of players that she was on the field with.” said Head Coach Scott Cline.
