Hayesville – On Thursday the Lady Devils bats came to life. Swain jumped out early lead on Hayesville, scoring 5 first inning runs on their way to building a 14-1 lead through four innings. Hayesville began chipping away at the lead, in the bottom of the fourth, and cut it to 14-5 and eventually 14-8 in the fifth inning. The Lady Devils would score 6 more runs over the final two innings to take an exciting 20-11 win over the Jackets.
Kiersten Smith, Haileigh Woodard, Maddie Spates and Kaley Parker each had 3 hits for the Devils. Kandyce Crisp, Savana Smith, Tori Johnson and Hannah Shuler each finished with a pair of hits. Kiersten Smith scored 3 times and drove in a pair of runs with a pair of doubles. Haileigh Woodard and Faith Woodard each drove in 3 runs. Hannah Shuler tallied a triple and scored a run, while Breanna Wesley scored twice as Shuler’s courtesy runner.
For the game the Lady Devils pounded out 21 hits to go with 4 walks.
